A Barbara Burk Potrait: The Process

1
Inspiration

Initially, Barbara likes to set up an initial “get acquainted” session to discuss the desired type of portrait. With your participation in this decision making process, Barbara can assure that the final painting is a true collaboration between what the client wants and her interpretation of those requests.

2
The Perfect Pose

The second visit is comprised of taking photographs to explore the setting for the pose and expression. A color study is also done at this time in the chosen medium. After gathering all of the information, the actual painting process begins back at Barbara’s studio.

3
Additional Sittings

The last step involves 2-3 additional sittings. However, if your time is limited, the portrait can be completed with only a final sitting. The procedure for out-of-town commissions is similar and the initial consultation, photographs and color study can be completed in 2-3 days.

4
Art for a Lifetime

Barbara’s professional eye captures the remarkable likenesses of her subjects, including that “special something” that conveys individuality and uniqueness. Your portrait becomes a living memory that represents the honor of achievement, the spirit of family and the innocence of childhood.
